Charting USDA's Organic Wine Rules

NYU nutrition professor Marion Nestle posted a clarification of the new rules for organic wine this morning on her blog, Food Politics. I've taken Nestle's list of who does what in the federal government when it comes to organic wine and formed it into a flow chart.

Wine Industry Insight reports that a Memorandum of Understanding was signed earlier this month between the USDA, Agricultural Marketing Service (AMS), and the Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau (TTB) regarding the labeling of organic wine, and as you can see, there's plenty of bureaucratic alphabet soup to sift through.
