Giveaway: Win an Organic Gift Set from Rishi Tea!
Tuesday, August 18, 2009 at 9:10AM
Drinking organic tea is not only good for you, it's good for the environment. Studies show that petroleum-based synthetic fertilizers used in conventional farming can result in an overabundance of nitrogen and phosphorous in the ground which can cause "dead zones" in larger bodies of water. Organic farming practices avoid runoff of chemicals that harm rivers, lakes and oceans and also help safeguard drinking water supplies in certain areas.
This week, Rishi Tea has partnered with us to give away organic tea gift sets to two lucky OrganicNation.tv fans! The two winners will recieve an Organic Black Tea or Organic White Tea Gift Set complete with organic fair trade teas and glass teapot in a handwoven bamboo box.
How can you win? All you have to do is:
1) Leave a comment below this blog post telling us why clean water matters to you and/or post the following message to your Twitter account:
"@RishiTea Organic Gift Set Giveaway on @OrganicNation.tv! Leave a comment to enter: http://ow.ly/kqU9 #RishiGift (please RT)"
You have two opportunities to enter so leave a comment and post a tweet to double your chances!

Clean, fresh water is important to me because it's the one thing we need to live, and it's the most underappreciated resource. Only once the Great Lakes are contaminated beyond repair and the aquifers of the southwest are emptied on golf courses will we recognize how vital the stuff is.
Great point Tammy! Thanks for entering and good luck!
Clean water is crucial to all society; it can decrease the risk of spreading extremely preventable and dangerous infections, as can be seen in natural disaster situations, such as Katrina. Furthermore, it's important that chemicals and other elemental additions inadvertently, or purposely, added to water is removed as there are many known health problems associated with them, as well as countless unknown/undocumented/unreported illnesses/conditions associated with them

I'm not sure why we haven't realized that we need yo ration the one resource we require above all else. How is it that we even started at some point considering flushing the toilet with fresh water, or throwing it away in to the monsterous las Vegas fountains.
Clean water should free for everyone. It is the basis for good health and a healthy enviornment. Water is becoming a commodity that is sold in bottles and affored by the privledged. What will happen to sociiety when only the rich has access to clean water?
Clean water is one of the basic needs for all life forms. Without it, most life as we know it would perish.
Why is clean water important? The fact one even has to ask this question boggles the mind. I would like to be able to drink the water out of my tap without running it through an expensive filtration system. I want my kids live to see the day when you can once again fish in the local streams and lakes and actually EAT the fish.
Clean water is important to me because it is one of the fundamental building blocks for everything our body needs. Without it, our organs can't function, we can't breathe, our blood with thicken, our bodies will shrivel up and die. My oldest child is almost 2 and 99% of what he drinks is water. The other 1% is juice in which the fruit has to have water in order to be good. My youngest drinks only breastmilk and he has a good supply of that because I drink the equivalent of two 2ltr bottles of water every day. Without clean water our nation would not be where it is today. We would have prevalent cases of Diptheria, Cholera, Disentary, and the like. Our water systems are already contaminated with fertilizers, hormones, and prescription drugs. We, as a society, need to work better plans to get these elements out of our water system and out of our bodies so that we all can be healthy.
clean water makes the tea taste better, plus i grew up in america so my body can't take bad water, clearly water is needed to survive, i'm all about clean water :D
Clean water is essential for the Earth and all of its beings. There is nothing better than hiking to the top of a mountain and discovering crystal clear clean mountain spring water. Mmmm...what a great experience!
Clean water is essential for all life to flourish. It is something that should be cherished and valued. Not taken for granted and thrown away, which unfortunately, happens so often today. Those who have it in abundance and at the touch of a button do not realize how fortunate they are. They often do not understand how much their lives would change without this easy access to clean water. Those with should do all they can to ration their use of clean water and strive for ways to provide it to those without. Each drop of clean water should be put to good use and not just poured down the drain.
Clean water is a blessing. Many people around the world would go to great lengths for a sip of the water that comes from taps in the U.S. Don't take it for granted!
I'd like my kids to know that it's okay to turn on the faucet and drink the water. In a lot of countries, that's not a reality. And even in ours, we have to chlorine-up the water before we can try it. But I for-see a future with great clean water.
Clean water is important for everything on the planet, to us as humans for survival, to plants, animals, everyone needs water, and we need to preserve this important natural resource.
Nothing like drinking clean water. I want my children and their children to know how blessed we are to have such an amazing resource at our hands and to teach them how to preserve this so we do not have contaminated waters.
Fresh H20 needs our protection & appreciation. There is a limited amount of fresh water. When we care about the earth & water, we are caring for ourselves & the future generations. Thank you, U R LOVED.
I don't know anything about the relationship between farming and water, but I do know that people take water for granted. We are unaware of the affects we have on our water supply since we don't see them immediately. This means that we disconnect our behaviors with the outcome. Clean water is essential to health - there's no doubt about that. We need more awareness of the connection between our actions and our water so that we can act more carefully and considerably. We owe it to ourselves, our society, and our children.
Water is the nectar of life. We use and surround ourselves with water to live...clothes washing, eating, drinking, bathing, and cavorting. Clean water gives us the elixir to live healthy lives.
Clean water allows you to taste the tea, not the impurities of the water.
water is one of the fundamental building block of life, without it plants would not exist, animals would not exist, we would not exist. we all rely heavily on water to live, and as water is polluted, the toxins become a part of us, polluting our bodies, and the plants and animals.
on a trip in india, i witnessed how the locals live with rationed water, it was shocking. the ground water was polluted by industry, and was not potable. wildlife had little chance of survival. water travels the world, and the pollution is not localized. if we keep up our selfish habits, we will soon find all countries in the same demise. the devastating effects of our water pollution has to stop.
Everyone above me has hit on all the big talking points for me already. Clean water is so important to everyday life, not just for us but for all biodiversity.
We wanted to take our dog to play in the river the other day and we had to stop and do some research into where it was safe to take her. It's a sad but true reality of the world we live in today.
Clean water is essential to human and animal health. Life, all life, depends on it's availability. Natural sources of clean, useable water are disappearing at an alarming rate mostly due to human activity. We are essentially responsible for the predicament we are in and only we can get ourselves out; collectively, together.
Clear water is important to me because it's vital to life. I know that it may be the next war starter as industry continues to pollute and weather changes make the environment wonky. Yes, "wonky" is a scientific term.
We are so thankful to live in this country with clean water. Clean water to drink, wash with and play in. Otherwise we would be dealing with so many more diseases and health problems. Besides, nothing is better for a good cup of tea than to start with good, clean water.
