Thoughts on the Kickapoo Country Fair
Monday, July 27, 2009 at 10:36AM I'm still wiping the sleep out of my eyes after the late drive back to Chicago from the Kickapoo Country Fair in La Farge, WI, but it was well worth the drive. We've been to a handful of festivals, summits and conferences since OrganicNation launched in late spring, and Kickapoo takes top honors in a number of categories.
For starters, Organic Valley knows how to throw a party. The event was held at Organic Valley's beautiful headquarters in La Farge, with a backdrop of rolling hills and sunflowers. They booked rock bands, the acrobat troup Nanda, and they invited an excellent group of panelists to speak about sustainable food. The food was great, the workshops were engaging, and even the weather was perfect.
So basically, Organic Valley delivered on everything they promised, and the result was a very well-organized and satisfying fair.
After the panel discussion yesterday afternoon, we had the pleasure of meeting a few of the distinguished "organic heroes," and we recorded short interviews with the author Dr. Sandra Steingraber, the Rodale Institute's Tim LaSalle and Ken Cook, president of the Environmental Working Group, so stay tuned for those.
