- After their contracts with a major milk processor were canceled, 10 Maine dairy farmers are forming a coop, MOOMilk, short for Maine’s Own Organic Milk Co, to sell and distribute their milk, according to a Mother Nature Network article.
- The Cornucopia Institute filed formal complaints with the USDA organic program this week, "alleging that Target Corporation has misled consumers into thinking some conventional food items it sells are organic," according to a press release. Target has been advertising Silk soy milk as "organic," when in fact is has been downgraded to "natural."
- Will Allen, founder of Milwaukee-based Growing Power, pens an Op-Ed for the Boston Globe urging readers to take part in the 'good food revolution.'
- "Is Michelle Obama about to take on Big Food?" asks Grist's Tom Laskawy. Up to this point, the first lady has been exercising "soft power," but it seems likely that she'll soon seek to effect some real policy change.
